Whatsapp, disappearing photos and videos: the latest update


The next update of the application includes an all-new feature. Users may notice that this is a feature "inspired" by something already seen elsewhere in the past. Remember Snapchat? The app that gave birth to the idea of stories, later carried over to Instagram and Whatsapp. The highlight was photos and videos meant to disappear after the first opening, allowing for a single view of the content before it faded away. This type of sending is now also available in Instagram chat, but Zuckerberg's group has gone further and decided to bring it to the messaging app as well.


How the new photo and video sending feature works. The update coming soon will allow you to choose to have the image or video sent displayed only once. The company's goal is to increase privacy. By selecting the "view only once" feature, sent files will not be saved in the recipient's photos or gallery. In addition, if the recipient of the media content does not open the photo or video within 14 days of sending it, the file will no longer be available. Photos and videos will therefore have an expiration date, after which it will no longer be possible to view them.
