Samsung's Tri-Fold Phone Name Leaked: Galaxy G Fold and a Bold New Design on the Horizon

Samsung teased its upcoming tri-fold smartphone during the Galaxy S25 Unpacked event, offering only a silhouette of the device. The reveal was subtle, with no further details disclosed at the time. However, tipster yeux1122 has now shared information on Naver, revealing that the foldable phone will be called the “Galaxy G Fold.” According to the leak, the device could launch as early as Q3 2025, positioning it as one of Samsung's most ambitious foldable projects yet.

Samsung Galaxy G Fold: Expected Specifications

The leak also sheds light on the Galaxy G Fold’s key specifications. The device is expected to feature an impressive 9.96-inch display, which is nearly 30% larger than the 7.6-inch screen on the Galaxy Z Fold 6. When folded, the device will reportedly measure 6.54 inches, making it comparable in height to conventional smartphones. It’s said to have a weight similar to Huawei’s Mate XT, though it may be slightly thicker due to its inward-folding design.

What sets the Galaxy G Fold apart from Samsung’s previous foldable devices is the rumored G-shaped folding mechanism, where both sides of the screen fold inward. This design is expected to offer better protection, as it keeps the display hidden when closed, unlike the Huawei Mate XT, which features an S-shaped fold that leaves part of the screen exposed.

To further enhance durability, Samsung is said to be developing a new type of display and protective film specifically for this device. Given the complex manufacturing involved, production volumes are expected to be limited, and the Galaxy G Fold may be positioned as an experimental, high-end offering rather than a mainstream flagship.

Launch Timeline and Pricing Expectations

Although earlier reports suggested a 2026 launch, display analyst Ross Young has indicated that Samsung might release the Galaxy G Fold sooner, potentially in late 2025, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.

As for the pricing, it's still unclear. However, given that Huawei’s Mate XT launched at nearly $2,800, the Galaxy G Fold is expected to carry a premium price tag, likely exceeding $2,000.
