Meizu has unveiled the Lucky 08 smartphone with AI as its main selling point.The device launches Meizu's Flyme AI operating system and comes equipped with a variety of smart features ranging from automatic call answering and call summaries to an AI shopping assistant that helps you find the best deal by comparing prices.
The new interface also brings an updated AI assistant that can answer search queries, analyze documents, transcribe and summarize voice recordings. Meizu even made the power button double as a dedicated AI quick toggle – giving you fast access to the entire AI suite of features.
Meizu is also bringing Flyme Link for seamless connectivity to Polestar, Lynk & Co, and Lotus electric vehicles part of the Geely group.
The rest of the specs include a mix of midrange to high-end components.
The front houses a 6.78-inch 8T LTPO AMOLED with FHD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The panel is rated at 1,600 nits global peak brightness and it can dial up to 5,000 nits local peak brightness.
There’s a special outdoor mode that keeps the brightness up for those days when you are spending more time in direct sunlight. Meizu is also continuing its tradition of offering a white front panel on the Star White color variant.
Lucky 08 is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, 8/12GB RAM, and 256/512GB storage.
On the back, the Lucky 08 has a very unique camera island that Meizu calls the Star Trail camera system. It houses the 108MP main camera (ISOCELL HM6) surrounded by a 2MP macro lens and LED flash. The phone also packs a 6,000 mAh battery with 33W charging support.
Meizu Lucky 08 comes in Star White and Meteorite Black colors. Pricing in China is set at CNY 1,599 ($230) for the 8/256GB trim and goes up to CNY 2,099 ($300) for the 12/512GB version. Shipments are expected to start on September 27.
