Macbook Pro with the notch as the iPhone, the anticipation to a day from the launch

The shot, very blurry and also topped by a cute Doraemon, shows a module that contains the webcam, microphone and True Tone sensor that adjusts the color and intensity of the display based on ambient light. All elements already present in computers only that they are now in the frame. Integrating them into the screen would mean exploiting the entire surface offered by the shell. Therefore having more inches available or a smaller body. Other brands have followed different paths: Huawei, for example, has placed the webcam in a hidden key on the keyboard.

It goes without saying that this image should be taken with pliers, impossible to ascertain its authenticity, but there are some elements in favor of the notch. As noted by a Reddit user, the beta of Apple's next computer operating system, macOS Monterey, shows resolutions of 3024x1964 pixels for the 14-inch MacBook Pro and 3456x2234 for the sixteen-inch one. Subtracting 74 pixels from the height of both result in resolutions of 3024x1890 and 3456x2160, which are equivalent to a 16:10 format display, the one adopted by current laptops. Following this hypothesis then those 74 pixels would therefore be the notch.

Also the graphic interface of macOS seems to suggest a "painless" insertion of the notch. On computers the black notch would be less intrusive than the one on the iPhone because it could be integrated in the menu bar, that upper band that contains the commands and the status icons. So it wouldn't create excessive annoyance except when using full-screen apps or viewing photos and movies (but even here there are often upper and lower black bars).
