Apple cuts iPhone 13 production: lack of chips

Even Apple has to reckon with the chip supply crisis, despite its great bargaining power that seemed able to make it immune to the negative consequences of a problem that affects hi-tech (and automotive) companies of large and small dimensions.

The Cupertino company has been forced to cut the production of the new iPhone 13 by 10 million pieces, reports Bloomberg. The reason is related to the inability to find enough components to make the initially planned stock:

Texas Instruments is supplying Apple with chips for power management of OLED screens, while Broadcom is in charge of components for wireless connectivity. The source adds that Apple is also experiencing difficulties in sourcing components from other suppliers, but without specifying which ones.

The problems affect in particular the Pro models as shown by the delivery times through the official Apple store that currently show the date of 12-19 November by placing the order today (data taken from the Italian site), and stocks now finished at many Apple Stores. In addition to the problems attributable to production, there are also those attributable to logistics and transport services.

Fulfillment of iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max orders by mid-November would still allow to take advantage of the holiday season, which analysts estimate could be one of the best ever recorded by Apple: about 120 billion dollars in sales, +7% over the previous year.
